From United States. Posted June 27, 2013. I have the same issue. Here is what I've tried to resolve it: 1) Ran the game as administrator (as well as various compatibility modes) 2) Checked registry for old homm3 key (although I'm fairly certain I've never had it on this comp) 3) Downloaded and used Heroes3HD.exe.
I am trying to get HOMM II to run on my Surface Pro 2, but I'm running into problems. The DOSBOX version runs perfectly with a mouse and keyboard, and has the music I love. I can't, however, get it to work right with my touch screen. The Windows version is the opposite. It seems to still have the midi music, and I can't get it to run in
HoMM 3 Complete: how do I play it without needing the cd? Just installed HoMM3 again after finding it amongst my box of childhood video games. I'd like to know how to start and be able to play HoMM3 without the play disc.
My solution is to enter the link properties, go to the compatibility tab and click the "run as admin" check box. That seems to solve the problem (except for the usual admin popup asking if I want to allow this program to alter my PC when starting the program). Post edited December 17, 2012 by jes3788. Pages:

Posted October 13, 2016. Brynjolfr: I'm slightly interested in buying HoMM 2 but first I'd like to know whether it has a random map generator or not. Not in-game, but the map editor that comes with it has a random map generator (which has lots of customizable options). So you can create a random map in the map editor, save it without seeing it
76Om8yt. If your computer can't locate the Heroes II folder on your computer, you have to manually locate it. Go to Edit>Options, and under Games scroll down to Heroes of Might and Magic II. Select Browse on the lower right hand of the window, find the Heroes II game folder, and choose the HEROES2W.exe file. NB: I am not sure if this works with the DOS
Heroes 2 Music Problem. Version: Homm2 Gold. OS: XP SP3. Anytime I do something that changes the music (such as entering a town or battle or ending my turn or visiting most structures) the game freezes for about 3-5 seconds. I've found this only happens while the music is set to CD music, but I find this very strange because looking at the

Copy the HEROES2 folder from the CD to the game directory (it should contain a folder called ANIM with some .SMK files in it). Execute RegEdit and edit the hkey_local_machine\software ew world computing\heroes of might and magic 2\1.0 key and change the CDDrive entry to the game directory drive. Play The Game without the CD!
I have a ton of them from playing the campaign and I would like to keep just the auto-saves. There should be a 'save' folder within your HoMM2 directory. If you cannot find it and the game is installed to default location (Program Files), look in. C:\users\\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\.
